Aishwarya Rai still going strong
Most actresses tend to fade into oblivion post-30. However, Tollywood and Bollywood superstar Aishwarya, who turns 37 on Monday, is still going strong. Having been crowned Miss world in 1994, Aishwarya went on to work in a host of Tamil and Hindi films including hits like ‘Jeans’, ‘Kandukonden Kandukonden’ and ‘Taal’. The actress is currently working on two mega projects, ‘Action Replay’ and ‘Guzaarish’. She is also set to attend a number of international film festivals.Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who worked with her during Taal, lauded her professionalism. “She worked with me during the shooting of Taal, and is a director’s actor. I am so proud that she has evolved completely as an actor. Her performances have been great, and she is known internationally. Over and above that, she has a great married life, what more can you ask for from life? Yet, she remains humble as ever’, said Ghai. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali who worked with her in ‘Devadas’ and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ also sang her praises, claiming he gets ‘terribly excited’ when working with her because according to him, she is ‘very, very special’.
Hubby Abhishek also got involved saying he was extremely proud of her. “I feel great about her achievements, I’m so very proud of her. Whatever praise she has got, she deserves. I’m delighted that she broke the belief that women can’t work after marriage. We so regressive in our thinking, if she wishes to work to work, her audience wishes to see her, what is people’s problem? As a husband ecstatic that she is doing so well. I think she is doing better work now,” he said.
The actress was lately in the news when she came out and said that she was interested in doing more Tamil films. Considering how well her career is panning out and the amount of praise she has been receiving, it is only going to be a matter of time before we see her in Tollywood flicks. She is bound to do well, especially after her brilliant role in ‘Endhiran.’
